Hey there, Delilah!

After moving into a new house with her owners, Delilah was eager to explore every inch, both inside and out. And when the gate was accidentally left open, Delilah decided to make her rounds in her new neighborhood!

Delilah’s owner, Jeannine, had a package delivered to her new front door and when she went to retrieve it, she stopped in her tracks — the gate to her front yard had been left open by the delivery man!

“The second I opened the door, Delilah ran out the door and down the street! I ran after her, but quickly lost sight of her and had to go back to the house to put on shoes and a jacket,” said Jeannine. After quickly adding on layers, Jeannine hopped in her car and began driving in the direction Delilah went, hollering everywhere for her precious Lila.

Less than 15 minutes after Delilah took off, Jeannine’s phone rang and AKC Reunite was on the other end with the good news — a neighbor a couple houses away saw Delilah roaming and ushered her into their fenced-in yard to keep her safe and off the road. She then called the AKC Reunite number on Delilah’s tag and initiated this safe reunion.

“I was extremely grateful to find my dog safely in the neighbor’s yard,” said Jeannine. “I am profoundly happy that Lila was wearing her AKC Reunite tag!”
