Duncan the Daredevil

Energetic and enthusiastic, Duncan the Lakeland Terrier was always looking for adventure — and one day his wish was granted!

Duncan’s owners hired landscapers to help with the yard, but during their visit, they forgot to close the gate. And later in the afternoon when Duncan was let out to use the bathroom, the gate was still open. It didn’t take long for Duncan to go explore the neighborhood!

“I was in an intense meeting at work when my phone started receiving multiple calls and messages” said Ray, Duncan’s owner. “I peeked at one of the messages and saw Duncan’s name and my heart sank. It said, ‘Your Lakeland Terrier Dog Duncan has been found,’ with two numbers to call, AKC Reunite and the person who found him. I didn’t even know Duncan was missing!”

In disbelief, Ray called the neighbor, who was several blocks away, and learned that Duncan had showed up at her house, panting and caked in mud. She saw his AKC Reunite collar tag and immediately called the number, who then contacted Ray.

“Fortunately, Duncan always wears an AKC Reunite tag on his collar, so she was able to get in touch with me right away” said Ray. “My wife went over and retrieved Duncan, who was muddier than we have ever seen! Thank you AKC Reunite!”
