Elena Mae is AKC Reunited

575 days — that’s how long it took for Angela and her son to be reunited with their 2 year old Cocker Spaniel Elena Mae; but it only took seconds for Elena Mae to recognize her owners.

In January of 2018, after a long shift at the office, Angela never expected to come home and find Elena Mae had escaped her running lead and their privacy fence. Immediately Angela contacted AKC Reunite, created her online profile, updated Elena Mae’s status to missing, and sent out posters to the local police, vets, groomers, and her original breeder. Angela and her son relocated to a new town but never gave up hope that Elena Mae would find her way home.

Two hours away, back in their hometown, Elena Mae was spotted wandering around a trailer park in town. And after animal control gave a quick scan and discovered that she had been falsely rehomed, Angela received the long-awaited call from AKC Reunite. Elena Mae was taken in by the Springdale Animal Shelter until Angela could pick her up. Not only did they clean Elena Mae up, they updated all her shots and gave her flea, tick, and parasite prevention treatment on the house. “After the 2 hour trip, I enjoyed an emotional reunion with my furry best friend! She went nuts when she saw me and it was like nothing ever happened” said Angela. “Elena Mae saw is home now and is doing extremely well” and after 575 days we can happily say Elena Mae has been reunited.
