Gunner the English Springer Spaniel

As a six-month-old puppy, Gunner is still getting acclimated to new sights and sounds. So, when horseback riders crossed Gunner’s path during an afternoon walk, he wanted no part of that rodeo and ran away!

“My wife and son took his Springer Spaniel and Gunner for a walk along the Susquehanna River,” said Henry, Gunner’s owner, “where you don’t need to leash your dog.” Usually, Gunner is well trained and walks alongside his owners, but when some horseback riders galloped into the area, Gunner was spooked.

While Gunner was on the run, Henry was out visiting a patient at a nearby hospital, unaware of his dog’s situation, until his phone rang. AKC Reunite was on the line reporting the good news to Gunner’s owner — he had been found!

“My wife was happy to hear I was on my way to get Gunner,” said Henry. “She was afraid to come home to tell me he was missing. Everything turned out okay thanks to AKC Reunite and Gunner was only missing for about 3 hours!”
