Maggie the Shih Tzu

Even though Maggie was used to visiting her owner’s extended family, it had been a while since her last visit. And Maggie, being apprehensive of the situation, wouldn’t go inside the house. Instead took off!

“When we turned around to go pick her up and bring her inside, she was gone,” said Maggie’s owner Becky. “We looked for two hours for her with no luck.”

It was a cold day in Michigan, with a high of 20 degrees, and the longer Maggie was gone, the more Becky panicked. Thankfully, after two hours of searching, Becky’s stress was dismissed when her phone pinged with a text from AKC Reunite.

A kind stranger noticed Maggie…when she darted out in front of his car! Although she was unharmed, she was shaking from the cold and pretty shook up from the entire event. After a while, the kind stranger was able to coerce her into his car and take her to a local animal clinic to get her chip scanned.

“Maggie [somehow] made it across four lanes of traffic over 3 miles away,” said Becky. “ I am so thankful that he took time out of his day to make sure Maggie was okay and to have her chip read!”
