Ruby the Rascal

When Ruby’s family was contacted about a missing dog, they initially thought AKC Reunite made a mistake. Thankfully, our microchips are unique, and no two pets can have the same identifier… and Ruby the Shih Tzu, was reunited with her family in no time!

“We had put Ruby in our fenced backyard to go to the bathroom,” said Chelsey, Ruby’s owner. “She usually comes to the door when she is ready to come back inside.” Instead, Ruby had escaped under the fence and was out exploring the neighborhood.

About 20-30 minutes later, Chelsey’s phone rang and AKC Reunite was on the other end of the line. A good Samaritan had found Ruby and called the AKC Reunite number on her collar tag.

“We immediately thought they had the wrong number and dog as we thought Ruby was still in the backyard.  But when we went to look, we discovered Ruby had escaped through the bottom/side of the fence!”

In no time, Ruby was promptly returned to her family thanks to the good Samaritan and AKC Reunite.

“We highly recommend everyone get their pets microchipped as animals are more than pets! They are family and losing them can be extremely heartbreaking. We are so happy to be reunited with our sweet Ruby! Thank you AKC Reunite for everything!”
