Wild Willy

Willy, the 10-month-old Black Lab, loves to explore the acres around his California house, especially now as warmer weather starts to set in. But one day, Willy’s exploration went too far, and AKC Reunite was there to help.

“I was outside with Willy and in a minute, he was gone,” said his owner, Jeff. I gave him a few minutes [hoping he’d return, but when he didn’t] I went to go look for him. I live in a rural area where the houses are 5 to 10 acres apart” so finding Willy was a challenge for Jeff.

Thankfully, Willy’s AKC Reunite collar tag was around his neck, along with his vaccination tag, so when Willy wandered into a good Samaritan’s yard, the neighbor immediately knew who to call.

“Within a half-hour I got a text from AKC Reunite that Willy was found,” said Jeff.  “The text included the individuals name that found him and his number, along with the AKC Reunite’s 24 hour recovery number. I called the individual, but they did not answer so I called AKC Reunite’s number and the specialist got me in touch with them.”

Willy had vanished but with the help of his enrolled microchip and collar tag, wild Willy’s disappearing act was short lived, and he was back home in no time!
