Charlie’s QR Code Saves The Day!

REUNITED: In a few hours

Susan got her sweet Golden Retriever, Charlie, an AKC Reunite collar tag with a QR Code. The collar tag proved priceless in helping her know Charlie’s whereabouts when he recently went missing.  A quick scan of the QR Code simultaneously captured his pet’s ID number and directed the Good Samaritan to our website (akcreunite.org) to instantly file a found pet report online without needing to decipher the pet’s ID number or write down a phone number to call.

Here’s Susan’s story.

“We are in a rural area surrounded by open fields and in the process of fencing our acreage. Charlie ran away from me so fast, I couldn’t tell which direction he went after rounding the next door neighbor’s home and disappearing into the fields. About 10 minutes later, after frantically searching on foot in several directions, I ran back home to call neighbors for help with my search. I got a text from AKC Reunite, entered by a neighbor about four acres away who I do not know. It was an AKC Reunite [notifying me] Charlie had been found, with [the Good Samaritan’s] name and phone number. I called her immediately and she advised that she only had time to scan Charlie’s QR code on the AKC Reunite tag before he broke away from her and ran. He is a 90 lb Golden Retriever with boundless energy. His other tags have my phone number, but she didn’t have time to get my phone number from the other tags. She acted on the QR code. I am so glad AKC Reunite has the QR code!
Charlie came back home a few minutes after the text came in, on his own, but I am so very grateful to have had the QR code AKC Reunite tag!”
