Maya the Masterful Husky

Maya, the seven-year-old Siberian Husky is a frequent flyer who loves to explore! Thankfully, with her AKC Reunite enrolled microchip and personalized collar tag, Maya has been reunited safely after each adventure, even during the Coronavirus pandemic!

“Being a Siberian Husky, Maya is a master at escapism,” said Carla, Maya’s owner. “She looks for opportunities to run whenever she can!” On this particular day, Maya was outside laying by the fenced-in backyard pool enjoying the afternoon sun. Unfortunately, Carla opened the gate to grab something and when she returned the gate didn’t’ shut properly, and like a flash, Maya was gone.

Thankfully, Maya was found in no time by a neighbor and the 1-800 AKC Reunite recovery service on Maya’s collar was dialed — and good thing it was — because of the Coronavirus and many closed businesses, who knows if Maya could’ve had her microchip scanned!?

“A neighbor coaxed Maya into her yard to play with her dog,” said Carla. “She called AKC Reunite and gave them her phone number. When my phone rang, it was [AKC Reunite] telling me where Maya was and the phone number to reach my neighbor. I am so grateful for this program because this wasn’t the first time Maya got away and her collar helped locate her and return her to me. I highly recommend the AKC Reunite collar and hope everyone uses it!”
