Mugsy and Harley’s Big Escape

Tired of being quarantined, the American Bully dynamic duo, Mugsy and Harley, saw an open gate and took off at their first glimpse of freedom! Good thing AKC Reunite is still working around the clock during this pandemic to bring them home!

“Our kids were playing in the yard while we prepared dinner,” said Brittany, Mugsy and Harley’s owner. “Mugsy and Harley just had a bath and were sunbathing on the deck. They didn’t have their collars on since those were being cleaned too.”

A few minutes later, Brittany’s kids came inside to eat dinner, and unbeknownst to anyone, left the gate slightly ajar — leaving Mugsy and Harley to begin their escape!

Less than 10 minutes after their escape, the local police department had corralled the pups, scanned their microchips alerting AKC Reunite, and posted a missing picture online, all while their family was eating dinner.

“We received a text from AKC Reunite providing us with the phone number to the police station and AKC Reunite’s phone number,” said Brittany. “When we didn’t respond, (since we were having dinner), we then received a phone call from AKC Reunite alerting us that Mugsy and another dog had been found together!”

Before Brittany’s family could even figure out how their dogs had initially escaped the back yard, they were reunited with the help of enrolled microchips, AKC Reunite, and the local police department!

“We can’t express how grateful we are that AKC Reunite was so prompt and thorough,” said Brittany.  I recommend them to everyone now! It should also be noted that Harley’s chip is registered to a different agency, and we DID NOT receive any alerts from them! We will now be registering Harley’s microchip to AKC Reunite as well!”
