Murphy’s Day in the Park

A slightly cracked fence gate enticed Murphy, the Westie Terrier/Shih Tzu mix, to go sightseeing. But thankfully, two good Samaritans and a microchip enrolled with AKC Reunite, Murphy’s unsafe jaunt was redirected back home.

“Within minutes of being in our backyard, our dog wandered out of a fence gate and headed down to the city park,” said Nick, Murphy’s owner. “One of our gates had been left open and Murphy, being the curious dog, he is, went down to the 2-mile walking trail at the park. My wife immediately called me at work to let me know Murphy was missing. I drove straight to the park where I met my wife [and] we scoured the park asking everyone we could if they had seen our dog,” but Murphy was nowhere to be found.

About thirty minutes into their search, Nick’s phone rang and AKC Reunite was on the line with the good news — Murphy’s microchip had been scanned at a local veterinary clinic and he was reported found to AKC Reunite!

“We are thankful for [the] two wonderful ladies who found him and took him immediately to be scanned for a tag at the vet’s office, and the AKC Reunite Team,” said Nick.  “Murphy is back with us and our children are so happy!”
