Answers to the most common questions about AKC Reunite’s Lost Pet Recovery Service and Enrollment.

Why should I enroll my pet? 2019-02-20T13:28:08+00:00

A microchip without an enrollment is like an ID card with no name or address. Without entering your contact information in our recovery service database, if your pet is lost and its microchip is scanned, we will have no way to reunite you with your lost pet.

How do I enroll my pet? 2019-02-20T13:28:15+00:00

You can enroll online at www.akcreunite.org/enroll, or download a paper application to send back to us. If you have three or more pets, use our multiple pet enrollment form for a special discount.

I don’t know my pet’s ID number 2019-02-20T13:28:20+00:00

You can call us at 800-252-7894 and we can see if we can find your pet’s microchip ID record by your phone number or email address. If we cannot, we suggest you have your vet scan the microchip to get the number, and then we’d be happy to look it up. FYI, Banfield pet hospitals have universal scanners and are happy to scan a pet a no charge.

I cannot submit my pet’s enrollment 2019-02-20T13:28:25+00:00

Someone may have started an enrollment online but not completed it which is blocking you from enrolling. Please call 800-252-7894 or email us at updates@akcreunite.org so we can cancel the pending order and you may then enroll the pet.

What is a Microchip with Prepaid Enrollment? 2019-02-20T14:17:15+00:00

If your pet has a microchip with prepaid enrollment, you will not be charged an enrollment fee to enroll your pet.  Whoever purchased the microchip paid for the pet’s enrollment in advance.

We enroll any brand of microchip and charge no annual fees.

How do I get a collar tag or reflective dog collar? 2019-02-20T13:31:25+00:00

First your pet must be enrolled with AKC Reunite’s 24/7 recovery service.  Click here to enroll.

To order a replacement collar tag, go here or call 800-252-7894. Each collar tag and reflective dog collar is a custom item and is not eligible for return.

We enroll any brand of microchip and do not charge annual fees.

Do you charge Record Update Fees? 2019-02-20T13:28:55+00:00

We enroll any brand of microchip and do not charge record update fees for as long as you own your pet.

How do I make changes to a microchip enrollment? 2019-02-20T14:18:43+00:00

If a pet is enrolled under your name or organization as the Primary Contact, records can be updated through the Online Records System.

Does my enrollment include a microchip? 2019-02-20T13:29:21+00:00

Your enrollment includes the lifetime service, but does not include the actual microchip. If and when you do get your pet microchipped, you may add the number at no additional charge to the enrollment.
