Sassey’s Lost Pet Alert Goes Viral

REUNITED: In a few minutes

Sweet Sassey, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel loves to greet others! Unfortunately, when Sassey was out and about to tell everyone “hello”, she was not wearing a collar when she went missing.

Gayle, Sassey’s owner, signed up for the AKC Reunite Lost Pet Alert Service. This Service sends an email broadcast to veterinarians, shelters and pet lovers in the immediate area your pet goes missing. It also provides printable posters that you can hang and a link to share on social media. Thankful for the Service, Gayle shared, “A neighbor down the street had taken her into his house to keep her safe and posted his address on our local missing dog website.” Others in the area saw her AKC Reunite Lost Pet Alert and the found dog post and surmised it was the same pup. AKC Reunite was notified and we contacted Gayle.

Gayle told us, “We had her back within 30 minutes of my reporting her missing. He has dogs and loves dogs, so she had a great time with him but was happy to see me.”

AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry (“Registry”). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry’s database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
