Stella the Stealthy Cockapoo

Although Stella, the almost two-year-old pup is easy to train, she still loves to run when she’s loose. So, when her owners were out of the country on vacation, Stella was sneaky enough to get past her dog-sitter and took off! With the help of her AKC Reunite enrolled microchip, Stella was reunited in no time.

“This February, we went on a three week trip to Mexico and left Stella with a good friend who is a professional dog sitter,” said Julia. “Stella was there for just two days when she decided to escape from the backyard through a small gap in the fence that no other dog had previously found.”

Thankfully, Stella only wandered a few houses away when a man noticed her, enticed her into his truck with a chicken sandwich, and had his wife, Erica, drive Stella to the local humane society.

“The Humane Society scanned her and AKC Reunite was notified,” said Julia. “Almost immediately, we received notification from AKC Reunite that our lost dog had been found. At the time, we were still enjoying ourselves in Mexico and were not aware that Stella had been lost!”

After contacting the dog-sitter, Julia learned that Stella had been missing for a few hours and that her friend had already assembled a neighborhood search crew!

“We are so grateful that Stella has been chipped, that Erica thought to have her chip read, and that AKC Reunite is so very responsive and easy to work with,” said Julia. “We will never have another dog without a chip registered with AKC Reunite!”
