Traveling Gypsy

REUNITED: In a few hours

Free-spirited Gypsy the Doberman Pinscher couldn’t resist breaking through the invisible fence to greet another dog.  Her great escape took her on a perilous mile-long journey across busy intersections until she was corralled by a Good Samaritan who took her to an emergency veterinarian to be scanned for a microchip.  Thankfully, Gypsy was chipped and home later the same day!

Shannon S, Gypsy’s owner, shares Gypsy’s story: “Our dog ran through the invisible fence while chasing another dog in the neighborhood. We immediately started looking for her and continued our search for over an hour and a half. After driving out of the neighborhood to expand our search, we received a call from AKC Reunite that our dog had been located and was currently at a nearby emergency vet. Upon arrival, we learned that our dog ran over a mile away from our house, across busy roads, and was located by a nice young man. This nice man was unable to determine where Gypsy’s home was and, since it was a holiday weekend, he opted to take her to an emergency vet to see if she had a microchip. The vet found her microchip and found our contact information. We collected Gypsy from the young man in the vet parking lot. Without the microchip, we may not have found our dog.”
