Morty the Domestic Short-Hair

After 165 days on the run, Morty, finally came home, thanks to his enrolled microchip with AKC Reunite!

Morty, an indoor-only cat, is always plotting his next escape — patiently waiting until the door opens just far enough for him to dart out. He’s dashed out the door a few times, but always returns to the sound of his owner clinking a can of wet food. But this time, he was miles away and couldn’t hear the clinking.

“Morty is microchipped, neutered, flea-treated and up-to-date on his rabies,” said his owner Terri. But without his collar on, her only wish was that someone would find Morty and turn him in instead of keeping him.

Five months later, Terri’s wish was granted and AKC Reunite phoned with the good news!

“I am in absolute shock,” said Terri. “Morty wandered up to someone’s porch who was severely allergic to cats, so they called Animal Control, and when they scanned him, his microchip came up as lost. I am so glad I decided to chip him!”

Morty was on the run for a while, but thanks to his microchip, he was finally reunited with his family!

“Microchipping was the key,” said Terri. “I’m so glad I decided to microchip [and enroll] him!”
