Rocco the Runaway

The open gate was just beckoning for Rocco to escape.

Every morning, Rocco’s owner Rene would let him out to use the bathroom and play in the yard, but one day, Rocco didn’t return. It turns out, the gate had been opened the night before but never closed, and Rocco took full advantage of his newly discovered freedom by exploring the neighborhood!

One hour later, a neighbor 3 blocks away, had located Rocco and called the AKC Reunite number on his collar. When Rene received a call from a 1-800 number, she ignored the call assuming it was a spam caller and continued her search for Rocco. Thankfully, she soon got a call from her brother, who was the alternate contact on Rocco’s enrolled microchip, who informed her that AKC Reunite had called him and Rocco had been found! Then, Rene received a follow up text from AKC Reunite with the location of where she could find Rocco.

“The best decision I ever made in regard to my dog, besides getting him, was to enroll his microchip with AKC Reunite!” said Rene. “Thank you so much for bringing my dog back home!”

If your pet goes missing and is found, don’t delay your reunion by declining the call. Save AKC Reunite’s Recovery Service Hotline number (1-800-252-7894) to your contacts so you know it’s not spam and so we can help reunite you and your lost pet ASAP!
