Sophie the Sneaky Siberian Husky

After a recent maintenance visit from the cable company, Sophie’s owners thought everything was back to normal in their house — that is until they couldn’t find their precious Sophie.

“We had let Sophie out thinking [the cable guy] was gone,” said Amy, Sophie’s owner. But when she went to bring her dog in, she noticed that though the cable guy was in fact gone, so was Sophie! He had accidentally left the gate open, and Sophie noticing the freedom, took off.

“I jumped into my SUV and went up and down the area around my house,” said Amy. “I then went a couple of blocks over, but there was no sign of her.”

Amy finally spotted Sophie running around the neighborhood, having a great time, with absolutely no care in the world! Amy called after her and offered treats, but Sophie wasn’t buying it and took off before Amy could get too close.

Finally, she retreated home and reported Sophie missing to social media. But before she could call AKC Reunite and report her dog was lost, we called her! Sophie apparently found a friendly neighborhood family and much to their surprise, walked right into their house!

Thankfully, Sophie’s AKC Reunite collar tag was on and they were able to easily call our 24/7 recovery service hotline, report her location, and notify her owners.

“This is the second time that AKC Reunite has been instrumental in getting her home,” said Amy. “I was so relieved; it was a cold night and she was running all over. I was scared she would get hit or taken. Thank you for your work on behalf of lost dogs!”
