Ozzie the Welsh Springer Spaniel
Ozzie, the five month old pup, is still adjusting to new sights, smells, and sounds. So, when a firework display went off one night, they petrified Ozzie and he fled.
“He slipped out of his harness and raced off,” said Laura, Ozzie’s owner. “He ran across a well-trafficked street, [and] was nearly hit by a big SUV! We knew that if Ozzie had been older, there was a chance he might find his way home, but he’s just a pup.”
Ozzie’s family searched for an hour before alerting police and posting to social media that he was missing. Fortunately, Ozzie’s parents were responsible pet owners and enrolled his microchip with AKC Reunite’s 24/7 recovery service.
The next morning, they got the call of a lifetime. After more than 13 hours on the run, Ozzie had been located about half a mile from his house. A sweet family took Ozzie in, saw his AKC Reunite collar tag, and called the recovery service helpline right away.
“We picked him up for a very happy and relieved reunion,” said Laura. Without AKC Reunite, we might never have seen him again. Thank you!”
