A Firework Scare!
REUNITED: In a few hours
Essense the Siberian Husky is terrified of loud noises, so when fireworks unexpectedly went off near her home late at night, she fearfully fled the noisy scene! Thanks to a nice neighbor and AKC Reunite’s 24/7 Recovery Service, Essense was reunited in no time!
“We were out of town and someone apparently was lighting off fireworks which freaked Essense out,” said Stephanie, Essense’s owner. “We have [had] her secured within our home boundary by way of invisible fence for over 10 years but sometimes when there are fireworks she will bolt through the fence in panic.”
Unfortunately, when the fireworks went off and Essense bolted, the pup’s owners were out of town and didn’t even know she had escaped. Thankfully, Essense was wearing her AKC Reunite collar tag that links her microchip ID number that AKC Reunite enrollment information that includes Stephanie’s contact information. When a nice neighbor found the wandering Husky and reported her missing to AKC Reunite, we emailed, texted and called Stephanie. Even though Stephanie was out of town, she was able to send another family member to pick up Essense!
“Most times we are aware of the fireworks but this year they have started early,” said Stephanie. “We were able to retrieve Essense within an hour thanks to a good Samaritan and the fact that her [AKC Reunite] tag directed the neighbor who to call…. AKC Reunite contacted me immediately by way of text and email, and it was very helpful that we were a part of this so she was quickly located. We are very thankful for AKC Reunite and will continue to use this service.”
