Allie Mae’s Afternoon Escape

REUNITED: After 4 Weeks!

Allie Mae the “Morkie” dog’s original owners did not think they were able to provide their sweet pup the love and attention she needed so they tried to find her a new loving home. The new family that took in Allie Mae had not updated her records with AKC Reunite, so when Allie Mae went missing, it was her original owners that were able to get her back to safety!

“We decided to re-home Allie Mae since she was not getting all the love and attention at home,” recalled Silvia, Allie Mae’s original owner. “We have two very active athletic teen boys and are always away with them, so she was spending most of the day alone. We felt she would get all she needed with our ‘friends’ that live on a farm with several small children that absolutely would love on her.”

“After she moved to the farm mid-December, the first couple of weeks we got updated pictures, but then they stopped,” said Silvia. “I asked how she was adjusting and everything was good, and I was told she had taken to one of the foreman’s that lived on the ranch. Fast forward to first week in February and I get a call from an animal care clinic that she was found walking down a very busy highway!”

Immediately, Silvia’s husband went to the clinic and there was Allie Mae, thrilled to see him! Apparently, a gentleman had seen the young canine for several weeks around an old church building and finally could coerce Allie Mae with food.

“The gentleman said he took her home thinking someone would be looking for her, but after a week, he decided to have her scanned,” said Silvia. “Needless to say, I was very upset! I called my friends to inquire if they knew she had been missing for that long and they had no idea… I was heartbroken since I trusted that they would love and care for her like the little princess she is, and they didn’t. She was so neglected; her coat was dirty and matted and she had to get a full buzz cut!”

While it was not the outcome Silvia’s family hoped for, they were thrilled to have still been tied to Allie Mae’s enrollment, so they could keep her safe even from afar. We are happy to report Allie Mae is being cared for by a Silvia’s loving family even as they navigate their busy schedules!
