Aurora is AKC Reunited!

REUNITED: In 12 hours

Aurora, the German Shepherd, decided to break free one evening from the White German Shepherd Rescue, where she lives! Thankfully, with the help of a police officer, a nearby veterinary clinic, and her microchip enrolled with AKC Reunite, Aurora could be safely reunited!

“Aurora escaped over the fence and, in the process, slipped out of her collar with her IDs on it,” said Nancy, the primary contact at White German Shepherd Rescue. “We discovered she was missing around 9:30 p.m. and immediately called AKC Reunite.”

A lost pet reports was made for Aurora, with the hopes that if her microchip was scanned and detected, she could be reunited. Thankfully, the following day, she was found and scanned to safety!

“I was [out the next morning] just a mile or so from my home when I received a text message from AKC Reunite saying that Aurora had been found and was at a veterinarian’s office,” recalled Nancy. “She had been brought in by a Phoenix police officer, who had been summoned by an employee at a QT gas station about 2-3 miles (and across some very busy streets) from my home.”

The officer arrived and corralled Aurora and took her to a veterinary clinic nearby where her microchip was scanned and AKC Reunite was notified.

“We were notified less than 12 hours after she had gone missing that she had been found,” said Nancy. “I immediately changed course and went to the vet’s office to pick up Aurora! She had a wound near her eye — it looked like she had possibly been struck by a vehicle” but otherwise was relatively unharmed.

We are happy to report Aurora is back at the rescue and available for adoption, and looking for her forever home!
