Charley’s Chip Reunion

REUNITED: In an hour

After Charley the German Shorthaired Pointer spent six weeks away at a training camp, his owners were shocked when the behaved pup escaped from his home! It is a good thing his microchip is enrolled with AKC Reunite, so we could help get him back home.

“Charley is an excellent off leash dog, however in a mix up my husband took the collar without his identification on it by accident one morning. That was the morning Charley followed his nose and not his training,” recalled Gail, Charley’s owner. Immediately, Charley’s family began searching for him and notifying local social media groups to be on the lookout for their wandering canine. But with record high temperatures in Houston, Charley was in real danger, so time was crucial.

Thankfully, within an hour of his departure, Charley was found by a good Samaritan who immediately took him to a nearby veterinarian. With a quick microchip scan, AKC Reunite’s Recovery Service was contacted and we could help reunite Charley with his family!

When Charley was reported found, “this set off an immediate doggie Amber alert that was seriously impressive,” said Gail. “Everyone got texts, calls and alerts — including our listed contact persons [on Charley’s microchip enrollment with AKC Reunite]. We had him back in no time, and I am so grateful to the AKC Reunite for such a well-run program.”
