Daisy’s Evening Departure!
REUNITED: In 3 days
Shy and fearful of strangers, Daisy the Maltese rescue pup took off when contractors were at her home working. Thanks to her enrolled microchip and up-to-date records, we could help reunite her days after she disappeared!
“We just moved to a new area about eight miles from our previous home,” recalled Sue, Daisy’s owner. “I was on the way home and a contractor was doing work inside the house. Unfortunately, one person opened the door leading out to the garage. [While] the garage door was open, Daisy fled!”
When Sue arrived home, she began searching for her skittish canine and even had help from some neighbors. Sue also notified AKC Reunite and posted on social media to get the word out fast that her pet was missing. Unfortunately, with a thunderstorm causing nearby flooding along with no reported sightings of where to look for Daisy, hours of searching turned into days.
“It seemed impossible to find her with a strange area filled with new construction, wilderness, and multiple thunderstorms,” said Sue. “But by some miracle a man driving alone on a heavily traveled road saw Daisy walking by the side of the road. She was exhausted and let him pick her up!”
From there, the good Samaritan took her to a nearby Veterinary Hospital where they could search for a microchip. Lo and behold, they scanned her microchip and it was enrolled with AKC Reunite!
“AKC Reunite called me with the news,” said Sue. “I was so excited and grateful that she was microchipped and that her savior picked her up. It’s a miracle she survived at only 10 pounds! A very happy ending!”
