Dashing Duke
REUNITED: In an hour
After a fence was damaged during a recent storm, Duke the Labrador Retriever found a way to escape the safety of his property! Thankfully, with the help of animal control scanning Duke’s microchip enrolled to AKC Reunite, the pup could be safely reunited in no time!
“We live on two acres of property and had recently experienced a heavy rain and windstorm,” recalled Amy, Duke’s owner. “We were not aware that part of the fence had been damaged and created an opening!”
While Duke was outside in his yard playing, Amy called for him to come inside, only to discover the hole in the fence and that Duke was nowhere to be found. After extending the search to the larger property, Duke had disappeared without a trace!
“After driving the neighborhood and calling friends in the area we still did not locate him,” said Amy. “An hour later, I received a text [from AKC Reunite] that Duke had been located and that his chip was scanned [by North Bay Animal Services].”
“About 15-30 minutes later animal control also called and even brought Duke home. Duke did not have his collar on so without the microchip I am not sure how or when we would have been reunited!”
