’Tis the Season to Escape!

Two Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs escaped during a Christmas package drop off. Thankfully, they were returned home in time for the holidays, not by Santa, but by their microchips!

Jake and Sadie, the dynamic dog duo, were happily enjoying a day at home with their owner Sylvia. Then, the doorbell rang. Sylvia’s friend was spreading holiday cheer and stopped by to drop off a Christmas present. After chatting for a few minutes, Sylvia went back inside and continued working on her computer, unaware of just how quiet it was in the house.

About an hour later, Sylvia’s phone pinged and AKC Reunite was on the other line. Jake and Sadie had escaped through the open gate during the Christmas gift drop off and ventured over a mile away from their home. A kind couple saw Jake’s AKC Reunite tag, dialed the number, and kept the pups until they could locate the owner.

“I had not yet realized my dogs were gone,” said Sylvia “[so] it was a surprise when AKC Reunite called me and said a neighbor had them! The couple even brought them back to me. It was a surprisingly short time for my dogs to cross a very busy street and be at least a mile away, so I am extremely grateful. Both Jake and Sadie are microchipped, and I am certainly happy they are. I was very pleased with the fast service provided by AKC Reunite.”

We’re so glad to hear that both Jake and Sadie were home safe for the holiday season!
