Kanji’s Lost Pet Report

REUNITED: In one day!

During a morning hike with his owner, Kanji the Shiba Inu, took off on the trail and disappeared. With the help of AKC Reunite’s Lost Pet Report, Kanji could be reunited the next day!

“My friend and I were hiking with Kanji and we just about made it to the top (about a 2-hour hike),” said Greg, Kanji’s owner. “Kanji decided to head back down the trail a bit with some new dog friends, but before I knew it, he was around the next corner, and out of our reach!”

Greg and his friend immediately called for Kanji, but the determined pup persisted on with his new pack! After hiking the entire trail two more times to search with no luck, Greg and his friend were forced to retreat. That night, Greg notified AKC Reunite that Kanji was missing and activated the Lost Pet Alert so pet lovers, veterinarians, and shelters in the area could be on the lookout. Plus, with the personalized posters, Greg had extra help getting the word out for others to be on the lookout for Kanji as he started searching again on foot the following morning!

“I came back the next day to put up flyers from AKC Reunite,” said Greg. “I placed them by the parking lot at 10 a.m., and at about 4 p.m. on Friday, I received a text from AKC Reunite that Kanji had been found. What a relief this was!”

A good Samaritan had stumbled across Kanji and after seeing Kanji’s Lost Pet Alert poster, contacted AKC Reunite! From there, we could help kickstart a speedy reunion!
