Lost Pet Alert Reunion!

REUNITED: In one day

While exploring a Strawberry Farm with his owners, Dandy the Boxer wandered away from the property and into the nearby woods before his owners could thwart his escape! Thanks to the Lost Pet Alert Service and a good Samaritan, Dandy was reunited with his family the next day!

“We immediately searched the Strawberry Farm and surrounding area, calling for Dandy for hours, recalled Machelle, Dandy’s owner. “Finally, we went home and registered his microchip with a dozen different agencies. But AKC Reunite was the first one that came through!”

When Machelle enrolled Dandy’s microchip to AKC Reunite’s Recovery Service, she immediately activated our additional Lost Pet Alert service to help get the word out fast on Dandy’s missing status. With this extra service, we notified a virtual network of pet lovers and pet professionals in the area Dandy was last seen so others could keep an eye out on this wandering pup. And thankfully, a good Samaritan who received our email helped Dandy’s family get him back home!

“The good Samaritan saw Dandy at 8:44 a.m. the next morning near the interstate and then checked her email and sure enough she received a [Lost Pet Alert email] from AKC Reunite,” said Machelle. “She called AKC Reunite immediately [to report the sighting]. From there, AKC Reunite called me giving me her phone number and the update!”

Machelle then immediately contacted the good Samaritan to find out the address where Dandy had been spotted and then began searching around that area!

“I went down to the location, saw Dandy but then a huge semi went by and he ran into the woods confused and scared,” said Machelle. “I followed him but lost the trail and then my husband and I spent the next 2 1/2 hours putting up [the Lost Pet Alert posters] in the area, going up and down the roads. Finally, I went in a ravine under the interstate not far from where I saw Dandy last and he was laying under a bush… He was scared and hungry but unhurt!

“Without the help and quick response from AKC Reunite and the good Samaritan, who knows how long my baby would have been lost or what may have befallen him. Thank you, thank you so much. I have been blessed!”
