Luna the Havanese

Did you know AKC Reunite contacts the pet’s primary contact on file, and then alternate contacts and then we even reach out to the microchips purchaser to help get a lost pet back home? Thankfully, for Luna, her Breeder played the instrumental role to help reunite her with her current family!

One afternoon, Luna escaped from her home to explore her neighborhood! Good thing she was wearing her personalized AKC Reunite collar tag because in no time, a good Samaritan noticed the tag and contacted our 24/7 recovery hotline.

“Luna had run about 4 blocks down the street of a busy downtown area,” said Anna, Luna’s breeder. “A very nice man stopped her, saw her tag, called you guys and then you called me!”

As the breeder, Anna personally enrolls all her pets’ microchips so she makes sure it is not forgotten by the pet owner with all of the excitement of bringing home a new puppy.

“I notified her [family that she had been found], and they went to pick Luna up, and all is well,” said Anna. “I am the breeder that placed the microchip in her. I put [AKC Reunite microchips] in all my dogs/puppies that I place. [This is the] first time I have had to have the information used in my 14 years of breeding, but time was of essence. When it mattered, the chip helped speak for our pet when she could not tell him where she belonged!”
