Missing Miniature Aussie!

REUNITED: In an hour

During a normal bathroom break for the dogs at Valhalla Rescue, a thunderstorm broke out within minutes of the dogs being outside. While all the dogs ran inside, Annie the fostered Miniature Australian Shepherd, took off out of fear!

“Loud rumbles of thunder and lightning splashed overhead with no notice and it was so loud it shook the windows in our house, even startling my husband and I,” said Patti, Annie’s foster owner. “We called our dogs in immediately and noticed that Annie the Australian Shepherd, that we were fostering for the rescue, did not come with the others!”

Immediately they began searching for Annie, covering every inch of their 10 acre property, but to no avail. She had disappeared without a trace! When that search yielded no results, local shelters and rescues were notified of Annie’s missing status as well as social media groups.

“In less than an hour time though and in the middle of the thunderstorm, we received notice from AKC Reunite that a Good Samaritan had found our dog approximately a half a mile away and had taken her to a veterinarian to be scanned for microchip,” said Patti. “The Good Samaritan had released their phone number and we were able to call them directly and be reunited with Annie. She had a couple of minor wounds from crashing through the fence but overall was in very good shape!”

“If it wasn’t for the microchip, she wouldn’t have been returned to us so quickly,” said Patti. “We are eternally grateful that every animal that comes through our rescue program is microchipped and registered to us immediately. Thank you!!”
