Phoebe’s Holiday Reunion!

REUNITED: In 3 days!

The noise from a Fourth of July fireworks display frightened Phoebe, the German Shorthaired Pointer, and caused her to flee in fear! Three days later, Phoebe was safely reunited — thanks to her microchip that was enrolled to AKC Reunite.

“Phoebe went missing from our property during the fireworks on July 4th,” said Miles, Phoebe’s owner. “She was missing about five minutes before we noticed and then we immediately began looking for her. After searching all night and most of the next day we were discouraged. We put up posters and contacted all of the neighbors,” but all was to no avail — Phoebe was on the run and lost.

Miles called AKC Reunite’s 24/7 Recovery Service Hotline to report Phoebe lost and activated our Lost Pet Alert service that notifies animal care professionals and pet lovers in the area to be on the lookout for her. Miles also reached out to all local kennels and shelters to update them on Phoebe’s status. Thankfully, the next day, Phoebe was located by a good Samaritan who took her to have her microchip scanned!

“On July 7th at about 4:15 in the afternoon, AKC Reunite called and informed us that someone had found Phoebe,” said Miles. “A stranger found our girl hiding under a table and took her to have the chip scanned…within an hour she was reunited with us. Our family is very grateful for AKC Reunite and how quickly we were able to make our family whole again!”
