Sally Ann’s Big Escape!

REUNITED: In 4 hours!

Lori recently adopted Sally Ann the Boston Terrier from another owner, and transferred her AKC Reunite enrollment over to herself — and good thing she did! Thanks to her up-to-date contact information, Sally Ann could be safely reunited when she went missing!

“When I got Sally Ann, they gave me the information from AKC Reunite and I called to have the information transferred over to my name,” said Lori. “The AKC Reunite representative I spoke with was very nice and helpful and it was very easy. What I liked the most about transferring the info to my name was that they would contact the person already on file to confirm the transfer [into my name was correct].”

“[Then,] one morning I put the dogs out and went to feed the cats and check my emails. I saw an email from AKC Reunite about a Lost Pet Alert add-on,” said Lori. “I thought ‘why do I need that? My dogs don’t get out,’ but I was wrong! When I went outside a few minutes later to feed the dogs, Sally Ann was gone, just gone! I called my daughter who works at a vet clinic and she told me to call AKC Reunite and let them know.”

After calling AKC Reunite, Lori added the Lost Pet Alert for a one-time fee of $15, so that a missing alert could be broadcasted to nearby vets, shelters, and animal lovers in the area Sally Ann went missing. Thankfully, within 4 hours, Lori was notified that Sally Ann had been found thanks to her scanned microchip!

“I got a call from a vet saying there was a “Dog Alert” on my dog and that the people who found Sally Ann brought her in to see if she was the lost pet,” said Lori. “I got her back that night and if it wasn’t for AKC Reunite telling me about the Lost Pet Alert, I don’t know what I would have done…Thank you AKC Reunite! You were more than helpful! I have told all my friends and family about the microchip and locator! I also have an appointment to have my other dog microchipped — she never gets out but then again I didn’t think Sally Ann would either.”

“I can’t thank AKC Reunite enough. They sent a broadcast to shelters and vets. Praise God the people who found her knew to go to a vet to have her scanned. The vet contacted me, AKC Reunite contacted me and my daughter [as the alternate contact on Sally Ann’s record]! We are so grateful, thank you!”
