Sushi’s Unexpected Reunion!

REUNITED: After 2 years!

Two years ago, Sushi the Domestic Medium Hair cat was reported lost with AKC Reunite. Unfortunately, the family found a cat that was hit by a car close by. The cat sustained serious injuries and passed away. The family was heartbroken that they had lost their cat forever, that is until two years later when Sushi’s family was contacted that their long-lost pet had been found!

“We thought our kitten, Sushi, was hit by a car and we picked her up off of the road (what was left of her) and put her in a box with memorabilia, toys, and notes,” recalled Meagan, Sushi’s owner. “We had a service and said some words and buried her in our backyard.”

Devastated, Sushi’s family mourned her loss for weeks and now two years have passed since the heartbreaking turn of events. However, a shocking call from a nearby animal clinic would change their lives forever!

“Apex Animal Clinic calls me and informs me that they have a chipped cat at their clinic that is registered under my name and has been missing for over 600 days,” said Meagan. “I was in complete shock because we buried our cat in the backyard! But, nope! I went to Apex Animal Hospital and there was Sushi, alive and well!”

As it turns out, thanks to positively proving Sushi’s identity with her microchip, the deceased cat Meagan’s family buried was not Sushi! Their Sushi was alive and well, despite a paw injury!

“The gentleman that brought her in was so sweet and had no idea that she had owners or was chipped,” said Meagan. “He had her for about five months, so I have no idea where she has been prior to this!

“She is one tough cookie to have survived this long with no real owners taking care of her! Her right paw is injured and [she] had to have surgery on it, but she is now back at our house. Microchip your pets!”
