Titan the English Labrador

Just a five month old puppy, Titan is still getting acclimated to his new home. Thankfully, the breeder who Titan was purchased from, had him microchipped with AKC Reunite — good thing too, because that recovery service was quickly needed!

“It was a usual Sunday evening,” said Rona, Titan’s owner. “I was at my computer planning for the week ahead, and one of our kids [took] the trash cans to the road for pick up the next morning. She opened the gate and took them to the street, [but instead of] returning to the back side of the house to close the gate, she entered the house through the front door. It was a simple, though absent-minded, mistake that any one of us could have made.”

But Titan, seeing the open gate as an opportunity to explore his new neighborhood, took off! No one had any idea that Titan went exploring until Rona was contacted about 30 minutes later, that Titan had been found!

“As I was working on my computer, I saw an email notification from AKC Reunite, but I didn’t open the email right away,” said Rona. Then, about a minute later, I got a text on my phone saying that our English Labrador retriever, Titan, had been found. The text also included the name and number of our neighbor who had found him. “

Completely shocked that Titan had somehow escaped, Rona immediately called the neighbor’s phone number and went to pick up Titan! Only after picking up Titan, did his family realize how this sneaky English Labrador made his way out of the yard!

“I don’t even want to think what would have happened to Titan without the AKC Reunite microchip and tag,” said Rona. “I’m so glad we took the extra effort and made the extra expense for the AKC Reunite service — it certainly has paid off. Thanks for helping keep our family together!”
