REUNITED: In 10 months

Woodchuck the Domestic Short-Hair Cat was rescued and living with his new owner when he escaped through an open door! Thanks to his microchip enrolled with AKC Reunite, we could help return Woodchuck to his home.

“Woodchuck is a little more of an outdoor kitty and I live in a pretty rural part of the county, so I don’t like my cats being outside,” said Nancy, Woodchuck’s owner. Unfortunately, her fears of safety came true when Woodchuck escaped through an open door one afternoon.

“My dog, who is a Mastiff breed, was going out the door to use the bathroom with an electric collar on and Woodchuck ran right under his feet!” recalled Nancy. She searched on foot for her feline and notified AKC Reunite on Woodchuck’s missing status and activated the Lost Pet Alert Broadcast. She even saw Woodchuck a few times, but he was too quick to be caught!

“After 10 months, I received a call on a Saturday night from AKC Reunite that he had been taken to urgent care,” said Nancy. “The people that found him were willing to keep him but they called me and of course I went to get him. If he had not been microchipped and registered, I would have never seen him again.”

“The people who found him were moving and the Emergency Animal Center thought to check for a microchip. I was alerted that Woodchuck had been found while they were still waiting for the Veterinarian to see him… I continue to talk up your service! Almost all the pets that belong to my employees are microchipped with your microchips. Because you guys are on top of these things is the only reason I have my boy home — thank you!”
